Meet the Counselor

Hello Everyone,

My name is Rebecca Onagoruwa. I am a Biblical Counselor and an avid pursuer of Christ and His gospel! It brings me excitement to know that I get to hopefully extend the love and the knowledge of God to women of all backgrounds through Serenity & Grace Counseling services! I have a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Florida, a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Master of Public Health: Health Promotion, Behavior, and Education from the University of West Florida. I am currently in the process of completing Phase 3, the final step of the Association of Certified Biblical Counseling certification process to become a Certified Biblical Counselor. I am a native born Nigerian who immigrated to the U.S in the early 90’s. I am a resident of Florida and have lived there for over 20 years but am currently temporarily residing in Louisville, Ky. I am currently single and try to maximize my singleness to pursue opportunities which may honor the Lord and bring Him glory! I do desire to be married one day and believe in the traditional Biblical roles of marriage which are kept between a man and a woman. I was 19 years old when I was drawn to Christ. Prior to that I proclaimed to be a Christian but was not yet saved. When the Lord drew me, He used reformed teaching to renew my darkened heart. I believe that the Christian walk should be one of active devotion, love, and obedience to God. In this, one should be keenly aware of their own personal motives, thoughts, words, and actions. I take seriously Scriptures call to examine oneself (2 Corinthians 13:5). I do believe with the guidance from the Holy Spirit, one is able to receive conviction of sin and be transformed by the renewal of the mind through the Scriptures which will provide true lasting change in one’s life in the midst of any difficulty. As we pursue Christian holiness, we can fully know the will of God in our lives, that which is “good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:12).
